Helping Smut with Art and that Damn Zombie with Architecture

For some reason I immediately thought of this fellow when I saw Filip Dujardin’s amazing works.

Mr. Dujardin takes photos of buildings, then creates surreal manipulations by combining them in weird, wonderful ways. I like this stuff so much, and I’m not sure why.

UPDATED WITH NEW, APPROPRIATE TITLE. Methinks, this guy might wanna start making crazyhouses.

  1. oddly enough, up nort a bit from us, there is a dood who has built a couple of places that look quite a bit like this…i think he has made them out of old grain bins, grain elevators and scaps of wood…but they are cool…although the general populace up that way consider him to be a freak and the houses a sure sign of his whackalooniness…sad…

  2. Oh You Kid!

I need a recommendation on the framing of said purchased print. Obviously, it is of a size that needs something larger… is there a standard size that I could put it in with a mat that you might be able to suggest from the artist’s perspective?

    • It’s an 8X12 print, so if I were you, I’d get the next size larger standard frame, and get a mat (or two, if you want to double up for drama) cut to fit it, which won’t cost anything at all. Frames are the expensive part. And I’d get a gold tone frame, which I think will look so pretty with all the autumn colors. You can probably get a 16 x 18 frame at a craft store like Michael’s or HObby Lobby…or some place like Target for next to no money. For the mat, I say you can’t go wrong with a simple cream.

      • Thank you! I will likely do just as you suggest.

I have only framed and matted one item, and it wasn’t art so much as a trophy. It was an Information Week article that made me almost-famous for 11 minutes. 🙂
